The University of Kentucky baseball team enters the final weekend of Southeastern Conference play on Thursday night hoping to hold on to the No. 1 seed for next week's league tournament.
The Wildcats own a half-game lead over South Carolina and a two-game advantage over Florida in the Eastern Division.
LSU leads the Western Division by three games over Mississippi.
The division winners receive the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the post-season tournament. Kentucky has a one-game lead over LSU for the league's best record.
Kentucky visits Mississippi State for games Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, LSU will close its regular season at South Carolina, and Florida will finish at Auburn.
South Carolina has played one fewer game than UK because of a rainout, but that game will not be made up.
The top two seeds in next week's SEC Tournament at Hoover, Ala., receive first-round byes in the 10-team double-elimination event.
The 10 teams headed to Hoover have already been decided, with only the order of seeding still in doubt. Those teams are Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina, Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Auburn.
