Jake Wise homered leading off the fifth inning to lift visiting Arkansas to a 2-1 win over Kentucky in the series opener on Friday night at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
Kentucky (26-18, 9-13 SEC) and the Razorbacks — the NCAA leader in ERA — engaged in a pitching duel to kick off the series. After a scoreless first four innings, Wise opened the scoring with a solo homer in the fifth and Matt Vinson singled home a second run in the inning with two outs.
UK loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth but was only able to score one run.
Kentucky finished with seven hits and four walks. They left 11 runners on base. Junior J.T. Riddle had a team-best 3-for-4 effort at the plate.
