The Houston Astros promoted former University of Kentucky baseball star AJ Reed to Class A Quad Cities on Sunday morning.
The 2014 winner of the Golden Spikes Award as college baseball's top player had started his minor-league career at short-season Class A Tri-City.
He batted .306 with five home runs, 30 RBI, a .420 on-base percentage and a .516 slugging percentage in 34 games.
He went 2-for-2 with a grand slam and three walks on Saturday in his final game for the ValleyCats. He has a four-game hit streak and hit .428 with two homers, four walks and eight RBI in that span.

Reed, the Astros' first pick in the second round of the MLB Draft in June, could make his Quad Cities debut on Monday in Bowling Green. The River Bandits are scheduled to play the Hot Rods at 1:05 p.m. ET.
■ J.T. Riddle (Western Hills, UK) singled once in three at-bats to extend his hitting streak to 11 games for Class A Greensboro. The Grasshoppers defeated the Augusta GreenJackets 7-4.
Riddle, an infielder in the Miami Marlins organization, is batting .292 with eight home runs and 43 RBI in 75 games for Greensboro.
■ Robbie Ross Jr. (Lexington Christian) made his third straight solid start for Triple-A Round Rock, giving up two runs on seven hits in seven innings in an 8-2 win at Colorado Springs.
Ross Jr. (3-3), who began the season in the Texas Rangers' starting rotation, had two strikeouts. He has a 5.79 ERA in seven games for the Express, but it's only 2.37 in his last three starts.
■ Max Kuhn (UK) had a two-run single in short-season Class A Vermont's 9-5 loss at Hudson Valley. Kuhn, an Oakland A's prospect, was 1-for-5 and is batting .235 with nine RBI in 22 games.
Ryan Huck (WKU) added two hits, including an RBI single for the Lake Monsters. He's batting .211 this season.
Hudson Valley got a pair of hits, including an RBI single, from Grant Kay (U of L). The Tampa Bay Rays prospect is batting .435 with nine RBI in 12 games with the Renegades.
■ Jonathan Roof (St. Mary) was 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Double-A Portland's 8-5 win against New Britain.
Roof, a Boston Red Sox minor leaguer, is batting .277 with three home runs and 15 RBI in 34 games for the Sea Dogs.
■ Zach Osborne (PRP) had a two-run single in Class A Asheville's 9-6 win against Charleston. The Colorado Rockies prospect is batting .268 with 17 RBI in 47 games for the Tourists.
