Kentucky sophomore first baseman Evan White was named the Southeastern Conference’s player of the week for the second time this season after hitting .500 during a three-game series against No. 1 Florida. White had seven hits against the Gators, including a double, home run and two RBI, scoring four runs, drawing a walk and stealing a base. The homer came off Florida ace A.J. Puk on Saturday. White is hitting .386 with 26 runs, two homers and 25 RBI, stealing eight bases in eight attempts for the season.
A UK senior guard Janee Thompson was picked as one of eight to compete in the women’s thee-point shooting contest at the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championship on Thursday in Cypress, Texas. Thompson averaged 12.3 points a game this season and hit 56 of 144 three-point attempts (39 percent).
