Liggins named SEC Freshman of the Week

Kentucky's DeAndre Liggins has been named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week.

Liggins had career highs of 16 points and seven rebounds in UK's 103-61 victory over Lamar, and then he topped that with 18 points and seven rebounds in a 73-67 loss to No. 21 Miami.

In the win over Lamar, Liggins didn't miss, hitting all six field-goal attempts — including 2-for-2 from three-point range — and both of his free throws.

Tennessee's Tyler Smith was named the SEC Player of the Week.

In the Vols' 100th season of varsity basketball which has included 2,338 games, Smith recorded the first triple-double in school history against UNC Asheville. In 26 minutes, he had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. He had no turnovers in the game.
