Junior-college point guard commits to UK

Junior college guard Konner Tucker anticipated committing to Kentucky before he visited earlier this week.

"He told me, if he liked it, he'd commit," Tucker's coach at Lon Morris College, Dale Dotson, said Wednesday. "I told him, 'Well, there's no question about liking Kentucky.' "

Tucker apparently liked what he saw during the visit, which included UK's win over UNLV in the National Invitation Tournament. He committed on the visit.

Tucker, a 6-foot-4 point guard, led Lon Morris in scoring this season with an average of about 17 points.

"He's a confident young man," Dotson said. "He's one of those guys who fits with everybody. He's got the ability to be good and fit in with the guy who thinks he's good and is not."

Tucker was not heavily recruited out of Fort Worth Paschal High in Texas. In January 2008, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that Tucker was not satisfied with the college offers he received despite being among the top scorers in that area's Class 5A schools.

His coach at Fort Worth Paschal, Lane Norsworthy, called an old friend, Gillispie, to kick start the recruiting process.
