Mayor-elects extend olive branch during rivalry game

Mayor-elects Jim Gray of Lexington and Greg Fischer of Louisville plan to forge a new relationship in the stands while their hometown universities wage an old rivalry on the basketball court Friday.

Fischer invited Gray to sit with him at the Kentucky-Louisville game in the KFC Yum Center. In addition to rooting for their respective teams, the two will discuss ways their cities can collaborate to create jobs, improve their hometowns and, in turn, help improve the commonwealth.

The two also made a friendly wager. If UK wins, Fischer agrees to set a stuffed Wildcat on his new desk his first week in office. He will also host Gray this spring at Churchill Downs. If U of L wins, Gray will set a Cardinal on his desk and host Fischer at Keene-land this spring.
