Kentucky basketball's Miller to try out for World University Games

University of Kentucky senior-to-be Darius Miller was one of 22 college players who accepted invitations to try out for the U.S. team that will play in the 2011 World University Games.

Miller and other invitees will try out in Colorado Springs, Colo., on July 29-Aug. 7.

The World University Games will be played Aug. 13-23 in Shenzhen, China. The team will consist of 12 players.

Other players accepting invitations to try out include John Jenkins of Vanderbilt and Alabama teammates JaMychal Green and Tony Mitchell.

"It's an honor to be invited to the tryouts, where the ultimate goal is a chance to represent our country," Miller said in UK's news release. "I'm just as excited for the opportunity to play against some of the best basketball talent in the nation."

Matt Painter of Purdue will coach the U.S. team. His assistant coaches will be new Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin and Butler Coach Brad Stevens.
