UK came out sluggish again offensively but one Cat ready to play was freshman Anthony Davis. He started spectacularly on both ends as UK ran off 11 straight points for a 16-5 lead. St. John's slowed the pace but was called for four early shot-clock violations. A SportsCenter-worthy put-back dunk by Terrence Jones gave UK a 31-20 halftime lead. UK methodically pulled away in the second half. The only thing in question was whether Davis would get the school's second-ever triple-double (he came up two blocks short).
■ Anthony Davis had four points, four rebounds and four blocks in first six minutes.

■ UK started 3-for-13 on offense, with 5 turnovers and 6 points.

The UK defense continues to smother. SJU could not get off good shots and when it did, many were rejected.
■ Anthony Davis showed why he is referred to as a "freak" athlete.
■ Davis was a highlight reel but don't overlook Terrence Jones — 26 points, 9 rebounds and four blocks.
■ Darius Miller's contributions are often subtle but that one-handed dunk brought down the house.
The slow starts out of the gate by the offense are becoming the norm. UK had as many turnovers as baskets for much of the first half.
