About the opponent
School colors: Black and Gold
Coach: Kevin Stallings
2011-12 record: 16-7 overall, 5-3 SEC
2010-11 record: 23-11 overall, 9-7 SEC (Tied for third place in Eastern Division). Lost to Richmond 69-66 in NCAA Tournament round of 64.
All time vs. UK: 44-134
Last meeting: Kentucky won 68-66 on March 1, 2011, in Rupp Arena.
Outlook: Vanderbilt opened the season ranked in the nation's top 10, but an injury and suspension for senior center Festus Ezeli led to an erratic start. As Ezeli rounds into form, the Commodores are showing cracks in other areas. Vanderbilt committed 17 turnovers in Saturday's loss at Florida — its second in a row — and is getting scant production from its bench. Despite its inconsistency, the Commodores are talented, experienced and capable of beating anyone. John Jenkins (19.7 ppg) and Jeffery Taylor (17.7 ppg) give Vanderbilt the firepower from the perimeter to complement Ezeli (9.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg inside).
