With Rupp Arena unavailable, Kentucky Coach John Calipari is taking his annual summer charity event to Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Calipari and UK announced Tuesday that there will be a Coach Cal Celebrity Softball Classic at the Lexington Legends’ home field on Aug. 28. Proceeds will benefit the Calipari Foundation, which raised more than $1.5 million last year.

Among the celebrities slated to play in the softball game are former UK players Alex Poythress, Karl-Anthony Towns, Nerlens Noel, Randolph Morris and Kyle Macy.

Other participants are expected to include Tim Couch, UK baseball coach Nick Mingione, Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter, ESPN sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung and actors Josh Hopkins and Steve Zahn.

General admission tickets are $8. Premium seating is $20. There is also a Coach Cal VIP Experience that costs $100.

Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. A celebrity home run derby is set for 5:30 p.m. First pitch for the softball game is scheduled for 6 p.m.

More ticket information is available at CoachCalSoftballClassic.com.

The softball game takes the place of Calipari’s usual alumni charity basketball game because Rupp Arena is undergoing renovations.
