Future Kentucky point guard Immanuel Quickley said Big Blue Madness and appearances there by John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins played the biggest role in his decision to sign with the Cats in a video posted by Slamonline.com on Wednesday.

“I think the biggest thing was going to Midnight Madness at Kentucky. John Wall had come back. DeMarcus Cousins came back,” said Quickley, who was one of three 2018 recruits to sign with UK on Nov. 16. “Seeing all those guys and where they are now and seeing them on TV, you know, you see them, so it’s like ‘why not me?’ I can do the same thing.”

That Madness would have been the 2016 event Quickley attended in Rupp Arena a year before his commitment to the Cats. Quickley, a 6-foot-3 guard and five-star prospect, is rated No. 10 in the Rivals Top 150 and No. 2 point guard in the class. He declared his intention to sign with UK in September of this year ahead of the 2017 Big Blue Madness.

The video is part of Slam’s Committed series and accompanies an article by Franklyn Calle. Quickley talks about his maturation as a player and his recruitment process in both pieces.
