With predetermined home and away games against Mississippi State and South Carolina, who both played in the NCAA Tournament championship game last season, Kentucky already knew it was going to have a tough schedule.
On Tuesday, that schedule got a little more clarity when the Southeastern Conference announced when and where those games — and the Cats’ other league games — will be played.
Kentucky will get its first shot at defending national champion South Carolina on Jan. 21 at Memorial Coliseum, which also will mark the return of former UK player Alexis Jennings.
After sitting out last season per NCAA transfer rules, Jennings will be able to play UK this season. The Cats will face the Gamecocks at their place on Feb. 18.
The week before, Kentucky will travel to Mississippi State and the Bulldogs will play in Lexington on Senior Day, Feb. 25, according to the newly released schedule.
Other highlights include a Monday night SEC Network game at Arkansas on Jan. 29 and the Razorbacks heading to Lexington on Feb. 15. The Cats will open league play for the second straight year against Tennessee on Dec. 31.
Kentucky’s SEC home games this season will include the game with the Lady Vols as well as with Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, Louisiana State, Arkansas and Mississippi State.
