The reigning Kentucky Miss Basketball is also now the reigning Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week.
UK guard A'dia Mathies averaged 10 points, 5.5 assists, four rebounds and 3.5 steals per game in the undefeated Cats' two wins last week.
The 5-foot-9 freshman out of Iroquois scored 11 points and handed out a game- and career-high seven assists in the 107-53 rout of Miami (Ohio).
Mathies is Kentucky's second-leading scorer and its third-best rebounder, averaging 12.1 points and five boards a game. She has scored in double figures in six of the Cats' eight games this season and is the only player to average more than 30 minutes a game.
This is the fifth year that the SEC has recognized a Freshman of the Week and it is UK's first honor since the 2007-08 season.
Kentucky (8-0) will try to match the school's record for wins to start a season on Sunday versus Florida A&M in Memorial Coliseum. The game will be televised live on the Big Blue Sports Network and FSN South.
