Kentucky's leader in points and steals will be on the court when the Cats play at No. 3 Notre Dame on Sunday.

UK Coach Matthew Mitchell said on Friday that guard A'dia Mathies' injured left ankle has improved steadily and that she will be able to play after sitting out the eighth-ranked Cats' win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff last week.

"A'dia bounced back pretty nicely from her ankle injury," Mitchell said, noting that it took her awhile to get to full practice speed on Thursday.

But the coach said he had a talk with her mid-practice and asked if she was OK, and then she turned it up a notch.

"We don't anticipate — unless there's something that happens — we don't anticipate (her injury) being a major issue for our team on Sunday," Mitchell said.

Mathies averages 16.8 points and 5.7 rebounds. Her 4.1 steals per game rank eighth nationally.
