Three-star defensive tackle Tyler Bentley announced his commitment to the University of Kentucky on Sunday evening.

Bentley — a 6-foot-3, 290-pound prospect from West Chester, Ohio — is ranked by ESPN as the No. 39 defensive tackle nationally in the class of 2018, and he will come to Lexington from the same Ohio high school, Lakota West, that produced current Wildcats offensive linemen George Asafo-Adjei and Kyle Meadows.

Class of 2018 linebacker Xavier Peters — another major UK recruiting target — also plays for Lakota West.

Bentley is Kentucky’s 10th commitment from the class of 2018 and the fifth player from the state of Ohio to join that group. UK assistant coach Vince Marrow was Bentley’s primary recruiter for the Wildcats.

More than two dozen college programs had extended scholarship offers to Bentley, who picked up offers from both Florida and Michigan State in recent weeks.

▪  Three-star wide receiver Shocky Jacques-Louis announced Sunday that he has backed out of his commitment to UK’s football recruiting class of 2018.

Jacques-Louis — a 6-foot-1 prospect from Fort Myers, Fla. — visited Tennessee and South Carolina last week, and he has received scholarship offers from both of those schools. He also has recent offers from Georgia, Michigan, Louisville and Michigan State, among others.
