Former NBA star Mookie Blaylock was critically injured Friday in a head-on car collision near Atlanta, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Blaylock, 46, is the father of University of Kentucky football-playing twins Daron and Zack Blaylock, who were both freshmen last season.
Police told the Atlanta newspaper that Blaylock was driving a Cadillace Escalade northbound on Tara Boulevard in Clayton County when for unknown reasons, he crossed over the median and into a southbound lane.
The report said Blaylock's vehicle struck another vehicle head-on. Jonesboro Police Chief Franklin Allen said late Friday that 43-year-old Monica Murphy, a passenger in the van, died just before 10 p.m. Allen said her husband, 41-year-old Frankie Murphy, sustained a broken ankle and was released from the hospital after undergoing treatment.

Blaylock was taken to Atlanta Medical Center and was initially on life support. By Friday evening, Blaylock's condition had improved and was removed from life support, but he remained in guarded, but critical condition, Allen said.
Blaylock has been under treatment for seizures, a family member told police. It was not immediately known if that contributed to the wreck.
