Lafayette offensive lineman Landon Young earned a five-star designation Monday from Rivals.com, which released its final Top 100 rankings for the class of 2016.
Young — a 6-foot-7, 300-pound prospect — is now ranked by Rivals as the No. 29 overall senior nationally. He committed to the University of Kentucky in 2013 and will officially sign with the Wildcats next month.
UK has never had a signee with a five-star ranking from Rivals.com, according to the recruiting service’s online records, which date back to 2002. Young received a five-star ranking from 247Sports last week.
Rivals.com national analyst Mike Farrell said that Young was the best offensive tackle at the star-studded Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio earlier this month.
“Young has always looked the part of a five-star and he was easily the best offensive tackle on the West team at the U.S. Army All American Bowl,” Farrell wrote Monday. “After the game itself and going back and reviewing everything, he was the best tackle for either team and that, along with that great frame, makes him a potentially elite left tackle in my book.”
Rivals ranks Young as the No. 3 offensive lineman nationally behind Mississippi commitment Greg Little and Alabama commitment Jonah Williams.
Young is the only UK commitment and lone Kentuckian to make the final Rivals 100 for the class of 2016. The final Rivals 250 rankings are expected to be announced later this week.
