University of Kentucky signee Jon Hood will be honored as Mr. Basketball Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation, which presents the annual award.
Hood, a 6-foot-7 Madisonville guard, will be presented with the award and the No. 1 jersey as the top player in the state at a news conference in Madisonville at 2:30 p.m.
This year's games in the annual border rivalry with the Indiana All-Stars will be played June 13 at Indianapolis and June 14 at Bellarmine.
Hood, who already has been named Kentucky's Gatorade Player of the Year, will be the first Mr. Basketball who played on a team that had a losing record his senior season. The Maroons finished the season 11-13.
