Top Kentucky football recruit Matt Elam will undergo an MRI on his injured left knee Monday, his high school coach told the Herald-Leader.
"Hoping for the best," Coach Chad Lewis said Saturday.
Elam — a standout defensive tackle at John Hardin — injured the knee during the fourth quarter of Friday night's state playoff victory over Bullitt East. John Hardin is scheduled to face undefeated Bowling Green in the state semifinals Friday night.
Elam kept an optimistic tone with a tweet Saturday afternoon. "Hard to move and a little bit sore but I'm good. Even better we got the W. That's all that matters!!! #JHHS."

A five-star prospect according to 247Sports, Elam is considering Kentucky, Alabama, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Ohio State and Louisville. The favorites in his recruitment are UK and Alabama, and he is scheduled to take official visits to those two schools on consecutive weekends in December.
He will announce his college decision Jan. 4 and be eligible to sign in February.
