Five-star power forward Ivan Rabb narrowed his list of schools to five finalists Friday, and the next step in his recruitment will be a trip to Kentucky.
Bishop O'Dowd (Calif.) Coach Lou Richie told the Herald-Leader that Rabb will fly to Lexington on Saturday for his first official visit. The 6-foot-10 prospect from the class of 2015 is expected to hang around for Monday night's Blue-White Scrimmage at Rupp Arena.
UK joins Arizona, California, Kansas and UCLA in Rabb's final five. Richie said his star player is still in the process of setting up official visits to the other schools on his list.
Rabb plays summer ball with the Nike-affiliated Oakland Soldiers program, which has developed such five-star players as Stanley Johnson, Aaron Gordon, Brandon Ashley and Nick Johnson in recent years.
All four of those recruits ended up at Arizona.
This year's Soldiers' roster also included five-star center Stephen Zimmerman, a major UK target who was in town last weekend for Big Blue Madness. Rabb told the Herald-Leader in July that Zimmerman had been trying to get him to visit UK.
Scout.com and ESPN both rank Rabb as the No. 5 overall prospect in the class of 2015.
"Ivan is a guy with a lot of talent," Scout.com analyst Evan Daniels told the Herald-Leader last week. "He has tremendous size at his position. He's mobile, he's long, he's athletic. He has good hands. He can make a mid-range jump shot. His offense is solid around the rim and with his back to it.
"This is a guy that some people have forgotten about a little. But he is loaded with talent, and he has a lot of upside. Ivan Rabb is a heckuva long-term prospect."
