New Morehead State University women's basketball coach Tom Hodges received just the reaction he was looking for when he took the floor for his team's season opener against the University of Kentucky on Nov. 12.

His Blue and Gold became an instant sensation.

The attention his program received had nothing to do with how the Lady Eagles played that day, but that was all right with Hodges.

"Anything that gets Morehead State in the headlines and puts our great university front and center, I'm all for it," he said.

The reason the likes of USA Today, ESPN and Sports Illustrated gave a shout out to Morehead is splashed all over Page A4 of today's Herald-Leader.

There you'll get a look at the garish wardrobe Hodges and his assistant coaches have agreed to wear on the sidelines this season in an effort to set their program apart. Hodges' sartorial selection is supplied by LoudMouth Golf, the company that outfits professional golfer John Daly.

Not only does Hodges' eye-popping wardrobe include multicolored sport coats like the blue-and-gold diamond blazer displayed in the Nov. 13 Herald-Leader, it also includes at least 15 pairs of pants that he calls the "wildest, craziest things you ever have seen."
