Former EKU player Chambers' son dies at 25

James "Frankie" Chambers, the 25-year-old son of former Eastern Kentucky and Transylvania University basketball player Jim Chambers, collapsed during a basketball game in Vannes, France, on Saturday and died Monday, the French basketball federation said Tuesday.

The younger Chambers was playing for a pro team from Saint-Brieuc, France, when he collapsed five minutes into Saturday's game. According to his family, the player was revived, then hospitalized. Jim Chambers and one of James' uncles flew to France to be at his side before he died Monday morning.

Jim Chambers played professionally in France for 15 years after graduating from EKU in 1983. He now works for Bluegrass Community and Technical Colleges as assistant vice president for student rights and responsibilities.
