College basketball roundup: EKU falls to E. Tenn. St.

Former Scott County star Ge’Lawn Guyn scored 27 points and shot 6-for-10 from three-point range as East Tennessee State rallied from an early deficit and held off Eastern Kentucky 87-81 in Johnson City, Tenn. Jarelle Reischel scored 29 points and JaVontae Hawkins chipped in 23 points and nine rebounds for the Colonels (8-5).

A Michael Carrera scored 14 points and freshman PJ Dozier had 13 as visiting South Carolina gave up most of a 20-point lead before holding on to defeat rival Clemson 65-59 and open 10-0 for the first time in 82 years.

A Omar Prewitt (Montgomery County) poured in 21 points as William & Mary defeated Division III Mary Washington 94-64 in Williamsburg, Va.


WKU prevails: Kendall Noble (Perry County Central) finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and nine assists to lead Western Kentucky (7-2) to its largest win of the season, a 78-44 victory over College of Charleston in South Carolina. Freshman Dee Givens (Lafayette) matched her career high with 16 points.

A Devin Conley (Boyle County) had 17 points, nine rebounds and three assists to lead Pikeville’s women past Bryan (Tenn.) 109-61. Kandice Porter (Sheldon Clark) added 15 points, eight rebounds and four steals for the undefeated Bears (12-0).
