Pairings for the first two rounds of the U.S. Women's Open next weekend at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina were announced Saturday. Kentucky's lone representative in the field, Caldwell County graduate Emma Talley, will be paired with Stacy Lewis and Inbee Park, the top two players in the world.
Talley, who won the 2013 U.S. Women's Amateur to earn her spot in field, competes for the University of Alabama. Her group will start play at 8:02 a.m. Thursday on the 10th tee.
Talley, who will be a senior for the Crimson Tide in the fall, will be playing in her third U.S. Open. She missed the cut in 2011 and finished tied for 46th in 2012.
Earlier this month, Talley clinched the Curtis Cup championship for the United States with her singles victory against Britain and Ireland's Bronte Law.
"All I can do is keep playing my game, have fun, and do my best," Talley said after the Americans' victory. "I'm excited. This is a good week but now I have to go home and practice and get ready for (the U.S. Open), because those girls are good."
