BEREA — Maddie Lockridge scored all her team's goals, leading 15th-ranked West Jessamine to a 3-1 victory over Madison Central in Monday's semifinals of the 14th Region girls' soccer tournament.
In the opener, Mary Beth Gorham scored a pair of goals to lead 16th-ranked Lexington Catholic to a 4-0 win over host Madison Southern.
So it will be a pair of familiar foes in the finals at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
West Jessamine beat Catholic 2-1 in a regular-season match that went to penalty kicks on Oct. 1, and 1-0 in last week's 27th District finals.
"Two quality teams," West Jessamine Coach Kevin Wright said, "and it's going to be a good game."
Lexington Catholic 4, Madison Southern 0: Along with Mary Beth Gorham's two goals, her sister Sarah scored, as did Monica Rios.
The Lady Knights (9-9-4) led 1-0 at halftime despite putting only three of their eight shots on net.
Mary Beth Gorham put one of those in, though.
"You don't often see somebody go 50 yards to score a goal," Coach Terry Quigley said with a smile, "but Mary Beth did tonight."
Starting from the midfield circle, Gorham weaved past four defenders, all the way to the 6-yard line. There, she let loose with a shot into the lower right corner of the goal, with 8:06 left in the half.
"I just kind of move around them and I get there," said Mary Beth, a junior.
Sarah, a sophomore, started Catholic's three-goal second half just 1:40 in.
Mary Beth made it 3-0 in the 56th minute, and Rios tallied in the 68th.
"I think that Madison Southern was prepared and they kept a lot of people behind the ball and did a good job," Quigley said. "We met a team tonight that played very hard, and we're very happy to come away with a 4-0 win."
Kate Fitzgerald combined with Sarah Youkilis in goal for the shutout.
"We've just got to come out hard and go after it, pretty much all of the 80 minutes we play," Mary Beth Gorham said of Wednesday's finals. "And that will get us through."
West Jessamine 3, Madison Central 1: All of the scoring came in the first 25 minutes.
Lockridge made her hat trick a variety show, kicking one in from the left wing, nailing a penalty shot and heading in a deflection.
"It's a region game, so it's all the best teams, narrowed down to that," Lockridge said. "So I didn't really expect (three goals). I was going to play my hardest and try for that; but it was great getting it."
The Lady Colts (15-6-2) never trailed as Lockridge converted from the wing with 32:57 left and on the penalty kick at 26:05.
"I got played a diagonal ball to the corner, and I beat my defender," she said of her first goal. "Then I just saw the goalie was kind of shifting to the far post, which is where normally you would hit it from that spot. But she left the near post open, so I just put it low on the ground to that corner."
The Indians (15-7-0) made it 2-1 on Nicole Taylor's header, off of Sarah Franklin's corner kick, 18:08 in.
Less than seven minutes later, though, Lockridge headed in her third goal. Jenna Bird sent a cross that deflected off the keeper, and Lockridge cleaned up the deflection.
"It's not easy sometimes when you get in the region games, when it's do or die," Wright said. "I thought the first half we moved it and played the way we like to play — combination of playing team ball and stuff. Then, second half, ... we couldn't get really settled down and really put the thing away. But I'm proud of our kids. We've played good all year. We've played a tough, strong schedule. And I think we'll be ready to roll on Wednesday."
