Kennedy Tranter scored twice Tuesday as sixth-ranked Lexington Catholic came from behind to upend No. 4 Manual 3-1 in the Lady Knights Challenge Cup.
Fifth-ranked Assumption blanked No. 22 Highlands 4-0 in the opener.
Catholic and Assumption will meet Thursday in a winners' bracket match.
Catholic dominated the first-half scoring chances but trailed 1-0 at intermission.
"I told them at halftime that was the best first half they'd had all season," Catholic Coach Terry Quigley said. "We played a good game tonight. Manual may have been banged up tonight as well. Regardless, they're a very good team.
"I thought we played an excellent first half, and a better second half. So I'm real happy with the outcome. But even if we had lost and played this well it would have been a good game. Because we're all building to districts."
The first-half goal, by Devin Spratt, came from near the right edge of the goal box with 32:58 left.
Catholic's best chance to tie came when Tranter was denied by Delayna Holman with a diving save near the 14-minute mark. Less than half a minute later, Tranter put a shot off the near goal post.
There was no denying Tranter down the stretch, though.
"It was really frustrating until we came together as a team and put in a goal," said Tranter, a freshman.
She notched the equalizer with 33:01 left, shooting inside the far post from about 15 yards out.
"Just passing the ball," set up the goal, Tranter said. "And work together."
Maddie Haynes scored the go-ahead goal with 25:48 left, launching a straight-on laser from 25 yards away.
Tranter sealed things with a goal from the left wing with 2:50 left.
Unofficially, Catholic (6-3) outshot the Crimsons (8-3) 25-3. Olivia Meck made two saves for the Lady Knights, while Holman totaled 11.
Assumption 4, Highlands 0: McKenzie Riggs scored a pair of goals to lead the Rockets (5-2-2).
"I thought we played very disciplined," Coach Kenyon Meyer said. "I thought we spread the field out. Our players interchange from position to position. I thought we were dangerous all night and defended really well."
Olivia Marino opened the scoring 6:37 in, set up nicely by Audrey Van Der Elst — who would assist on the first three goals.
Riggs made it 3-0 at halftime. First, she redirected a Van Der Elst free kick in with 8:36 left to play. Then, Riggs converted off a Van Der Elst corner kick with 3:57 left.
Polly Marino added icing with a second-half goal.
Ellie Coke and Mackenzie Kronk split goalkeeper duties in gaining the shutout.
Olivia McQueary had nine saves for Highlands (3-6).
