History lesson: Highlands, a 22-time state champ, is in the finals for the eighth year in a row. Its run of six consecutive titles ended last year with a loss to Collins. Owensboro won titles in 1974 and 1986. It lost to Highlands in the finals in 1999 and 2000.

Highlands leaders: Beau Hoge has passed for 3,254 yards and 33 TDs, and run for 791 yards and 23 TDs. Griffin Urlage has rushed for 823 yards and seven TDs. Nick Kendall has rushed for 664 yards and six TDs. Alex Veneman has 87 catches for 1,529 yards and 22 TDs. Mitchell Cain has 27 catches for 408 yards and three TDs.

Owensboro leaders: Nick Locher has thrown for 1,349 yards and 16 TDs, and run for 732 yards and 18 TDs. Anthony James has rushed for 1,180 yards and 16 TDs. Jahili Barrett and Rodney Collier have 16 catches apiece for a combined 677 yards and nine TDs.
