The pairings for the 42nd and 43rd District basketball tournaments have both been determined.

Scott County’s boys and girls both earned the No. 1 seed in the 42nd District tournament, which the Cardinals are hosting. The boys will meet Sayre in the first round and the girls get Bryan Station.

Henry Clay and Bryan Station face off in the 2-3 matchup on the boys’ side in the 42nd while Henry Clay and Sayre meet in the girls’ 2-3 game.

The semifinals of the 42nd will be played Feb. 22 and Feb. 23 — one boys’ game and one girls’ game each night — culminating in both finals on Feb. 25.

In the 43rd District, hosted by Lafayette, Paul Laurence Dunbar earned the boys’ No. 1 seed by going 8-0 in the district. The Lafayette girls have locked up the No. 1 seed at 7-0 in the district with a game against Lexington Christian to be played Friday night.

Both top seeds will await the winner of a 4-5 game between Lexington Christian and Tates Creek to set up a semifinals bout.

For the boys, Lexington Catholic earned the two seed and gets Lafayette in the 2-3 game. The LexCath and Dunbar girls will meet in the 2-3 game, though the actual seeding between those two is still to be determined by a coin flip.

The first-round games in the 43rd District are set for Feb. 22. One boys’ and one girls’ semifinal will be played on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24, with both finals set for Feb. 26.
