Three teams ranked among the state's top 15 will try to win their respective softball districts this week and advance for an 11th Region showdown next week.
Those three teams — No. 8 Scott County, No. 12 Lafayette and No. 14 Franklin County — are favored to defend their district titles and advance.
Lafayette's road through the 43rd District starts Tuesday when it will face the winner of Monday's opener between Tates Creek and Lexington Christian.
The Generals, who are going for their third straight district title, are unbeaten in their district and region this season.

Tournament host Lexington Catholic will meet Paul Dunbar in the other semifinals. The Knights topped the Bulldogs in both regular-season meetings.
Scott County, the defending 11th Region champion, will try to win its fifth 42nd District title in a row, starting with a game versus Sayre on Tuesday. The Cards are 8-0 in the region this season.
The other contenders in the 42nd are Henry Clay and Bryan Station, who will meet in Tuesday's other semifinals. The tournament host Devils won both regular-season meetings between the teams.
No. 14 Franklin County, the defending 41st District champion, is a favorite to repeat after going unbeaten in its district this season.
