42nd District baseball: Bryan Station earns title as Michael Bollmer finishes a home run shy of the cycle

Host Bryan Station scored four runs in the first and two in the second and cruised to an 11-2 victory over Scott County Tuesday in the finals of the 42nd District baseball tournament.

The teams split their two regular-season games with each team winning on the road.

Senior first baseman Michael Bollmer had a triple, a double and a single and scored twice for the Defenders, who pounded out 12 hits against three Scott County pitchers. Michael Morton drove in three runs with a double and a single; Elijah Burdette had two hits and scored three times; and Brandon Mayle George had two hits and drove in two runs.

Junior Trae Moseley went the first six innings and got the victory, allowing four hits and two runs, one earned. He struck out four and walked two. The Defenders are 26-12.

Nick Smith and Steven Lynn each had two hits for Scott County (16-19-1).

Both teams advance to the 11th Region tournament next week at Tates Creek. The draw will be Sunday with the first round scheduled for Monday.
