Mercer County sharpshooter Lexy Lake might get to showcase her talents during the Final Four of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in April.
Lake made the semifinals of the 2018 American Family Insurance #DreamFearlessly Fan Vote Contest for girls’ three-point shooting. She succeeded through two rounds of voting and is paired against Macee Sugrue, a player from Florida, in the penultimate week of voting.
The winner of the championship vote, which begins next week, will compete as part of the High School Slam Dunk and Three-Point Championships on April 1 in San Antonio. The event is broadcast on CBS.
Lake is averaging a 42.0 shooting percentage from three-point range this season for the Mercer County, the defending state champion. She and her twin sister, Faith, have signed with Campbellsville University.
Mercer County plays host Lincoln County in the 12th Region tournament semifinals Friday night. The Titans have won the previous three 12th Region championships.
