The first boys’ semifinal pits the state’s No. 3 team, Madison Central, against No. 5 Lexington Christian Academy. The Indians outlasted Bryan Station in a triple-overtime thriller on Wednesday. LCA was blistering from the field in an 88-58 victory over Frankfort in round one.
Scott County, ranked second overall in the state, Lafayette in the second boys’ semifinal. The Cardinals set boys’ 11th Region tournament records for points scored in a half (80) and margin of victory in their 114-37 win over Madison Southern in the first round. Lafayette trailed at halftime before rallying for a double-digit win against Woodford County in its opener.
Franklin County, the three-time defending region champ, advanced to its fourth straight girls’ finals. The Flyers will play Scott County, the region favorite, Saturday night.
