If No. 1 Scott County is to win the boys' 11th Region basketball tournament, the Cardinals may have rematches with two teams that gave them stern tests in February.
Saturday's region draw set up an interesting scenario for Scott County at Eastern Kentucky's McBrayer Arena.
Scott County's semifinal opponent could be No. 13 Franklin County, which lost to the Cards 76-68 on Feb. 2.
If Scott County reaches the finals, it might face archrival and 11th-ranked Lexington Catholic, which it struggled to beat 82-76 a few weeks ago.
The Knights are also the defending region champs.
The boys' 11th Region Tournament was supposed to begin with four first-round games on Saturday. But the boys' and girls' coaches voted to rework the schedule, which means the girls' tournament will start on Monday and boys' tournament will start Wednesday.
Lexington Christian Academy, No. 2 in the state, is favored to take the girls' region title. The Eagles won the All "A" state title at EKU last month.
No. 24 Franklin County, which could play LCA in the semifinals, is the only other top 25 team in the region.
