Tates Creek handed Fairview its first loss of the season, 46-28, in the semifinals of the Gateway Classic at Montgomery County. The Eagles (9-1) struggled from the field (10-for-31) and committed 16 turnovers that were converted into 19 points by the Commodores. Marcellus Barksdale led the Commodores with 16 points and five rebounds. Lafayette also advanced to the tournament's finals by defeating Montgomery County 80-59. Eric Shaw and D'Angelo Yarbrough both scored 16 points for the Generals. Jackson Davis added eight points and 10 rebounds.

■ Chad Jackson hit the winning free throws with 13 seconds left in Scott County's 64-62 victory against Wheeler (Ga.) in the quarterfinals of the Beach Ball Classic at Myrtle Beach, S.C. Ge-Lawn Guyn scored 17 points and Tanner Shotwell added 16 for the Cardinals. Jackson finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.

■ Brenton Covington's basket with 2:43 to play gave Madison Central a 66-64 lead that it never relinquished in a 78-76 victory against Fern Creek in a consolation game of the Gateway Holiday Classic at Montgomery County. Covington led Madison Central with 20 points and was 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Dominique Hawkins added 18 points. Orlando Rutledge led the Tigers with 32 points and 13 rebounds.

■ Sawyer Denniston scored 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in Wolfe County's 99-93 double-overtime victory against Garrard County in the Model Invitational at Richmond. Daniel Deaton added 15 points and eight steals, including a game-tying 15-footer with four seconds left in the first overtime.

West Jessamine, led by Gus Sherrow's 22 points and seven rebounds, edged Boone County 50-48 in the Republic Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic. Jarrod Polson added 10 points and eight assists for the Colts

■ Zach Gayheart's three-pointer with less than a second left gave Jackson City a 61-59 victory against Jackson County in the Red River Classic at Powell County. Gayheart finished with 24 points.

■ Reginald Breeden, who had 16 points and six assists, drove the length of the floor and laid it in with two seconds left to give host Moore a 58-57 victory against Manual in the Mustang Classic. Deondre McWhorter added 12 points and eight blocked shots.

Mason County hit 19 of its 21 free-throw attempts in a 49-41 victory against Bishop Brossart in the Ashland Invitational. Tyler Black led the Royals with 18 points and Treg Setty had 11.

■ Jacob Bodner, who scored a team-high 16 points, was 7-for-8 from the free-throw line down the stretch in Boyle County's 62-53 victory against host Nelson County in the First Federal Savings Bank Cardinal Classic


Lexington Catholic was outscored 20-4 at the free-throw line and was outrebounded 28-18 in a 69-47 loss to Wheeling (Ill.) in the KTXR Lady Classic at Springfield, Mo. Octavia Wilson scored a team-high 12 points and also had 16 in the Lady Knights' 57-52 win against Glendale (Mo.) earlier in the day.

■ Nikki Bustle scored 14 points in Lincoln County's 36-29 victory against Tates Creek in the quarterfinals of the Titan Christmas Clash at Mercer County. Peyton Hisel led the Lady Commodores with 10 points and 11 rebounds

■ Serena Sandusky and Alesha Prince scored 18 points apiece in Bryan Station's 68-35 win against Smith County (Tenn.) in the Halton Classic at Allen County-Scottsville. Nealy Williams added 14 points, 10 rebounds and five steals

Madison Southern's Brooke Casteel hit two free throws with eight seconds left in regulation and four more in overtime in the Lady Eagles' 42-39 victory against Frankfort in the Madison Southern Invitational.

■ Alyssa Lucas hit six three-pointers, three in the fourth quarter, and scored 19 points in Woodford County's 54-50 victory against Bell County in the Madison Southern Holiday Classic. Maci Morris, a seventh-grader, had 21 points and five three-pointers for the Lady Cats.

■ Kristen Stainback and Madisen Webb scored 20 points apiece to lead Scott County past host Montgomery County 67-51 in the Gateway Holiday Classic. Alex McKenzie added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinals.

Leslie County was held scoreless until five minutes were left in the second quarter, but used its press to rally for a 65-63 victory against Magoffin County in the Mountain Schoolgirl Classic at Belfry. Hillary Moore led the Lady Eagles with 37 points., 10 rebounds and five steals. Jamie Castle had 17 points and three assists for the Lady Hornets.

■ Zakaiyyah Martin's 17 points helped Manual defeat Archbishop Carroll, Pennsylvania's defending 3A champs, 57-47 in semifinals of the Holiday Classic at Pickerington, Ohio.
