High school basketball highlights: Nov. 29

Girls

Estill County rallied from a six-point deficit entering the fourth quarter and defeated visiting Model 66-64 in overtime on the opening night of the high school basketball season. Estill County's Julia Harris scored 22 points and Kennedy Flynn had 21. Madison Schneid led Model with 22 points.

North Laurel outscored McCreary Central 27-19 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as the Raiders held on for a 66-64 victory at home. Kaylee Cotton and Cierra Terry scored 17 and 16 points, respectively in McCreary Central's win. Sam Proffit scored 20 for the Lady Jaguars.

Fleming County senior guard Robbie Allex only needed 14 minutes to score 18 points in her team's 77-47 victory against visiting Nicholas County. Allex also had two assists and three steals.

■ Junior point guard Larryn Brooks scored 15 points to go with three steals in Madison Central's 42-23 victory against visiting Clark County.

■ Sophomore point guard Brandi Smith scored 26 points in host Whitley County's 60-46 victory against Harlan. The Lady Dragons were led by senior forward Ashley Mullins' 21 points.

■ Senior guard Kayla Day scored 34 points in Fairview's 61-46 loss at Coalgrove (Ohio).

■ Junior forward Kourtney Belcher scored 23 points and Lincoln County outscored Pulaski County by 13 in the fourth quarter en route to a 77-69 win at home.

Boys

■ Izaiah Allen and Joey Grove scored 21 and 20 points, respectively to lead Owsley County past visiting Oneida Baptist 69-42.
