High school basketball highlights: Dec. 3


Bryan Station trimmed a 13-point deficit to five early in the fourth quarter before Pulaski County pulled away for a 63-50 victory in the Mr. Basketball Classic at Tates Creek.

Taylor Gover scored 28 points to lead the Maroons. He was 6-for-9 from three-point range and had five rebounds and three assists. Kody Johnson had 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Marcus Williams led the Defenders with 21 points and nine rebounds. Larry Morton had 12 points, six rebounds and five steals.

Buckhorn's Matt Day scored 23 points to go with 14 rebounds and the Wildcats edged host Tates Creek 42-41 in the Mr. Basketball Classic. Darius Gibson led the Commodores with 14 points.

Lexington Catholic's junior center Jack Whitman scored 15 points and had 12 rebounds in the Knights' 53-50 victory against visiting Covington Catholic.

■ Adam Fatkin scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Blake Roberts had 16 points (4-for-8 from three-point range) in Clark County's 70-35 victory against visiting Mercer County.

West Jessamine led by as many as 25 points before finishing with a 66-57 home victory against Franklin County. Chase Fain had 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Colts. Chris Roberts led the Flyers with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

■ Cameron Downey scored 22 points and Paris held off a late run by visiting Sayre, 36-34. The Greyhounds' Aaron Jacobs added eight points and had 12 rebounds, six steals and three blocked shots. The Spartans' Ray Brewer had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

■ Caleb Ford, a senior forward, scored 32 points in host Harrison County's 52-44 victory against South Laurel. The Cardinals' Zack Jones scored 12 of his 15 points from three-point range.

Cumberland County and Campbellsville were tied at 50 through three quarters before Cumberland County outscored the host Eagles 26-8 the rest of the way in a 76-58 victory. Landon McIntyre scored a game-high 26 points for the Panthers.

Ashland Blazer outscored visiting Boyd County by 11 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 66-59 victory. Cody Whithrow scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds for the Tomcats.


Lexington Catholic's 8-0 run early in the fourth quarter was the key to the Knights' 60-51 win at Anderson County. Catholic stretched a two-point lead to 10 when Octavia Wilson hit a three-pointer, Emily Johns made a layup and Rachel Blake hit another three. Johns scored 15 points to go with eight rebounds. Wilson had 11 points, seven assists and five rebounds.

Bryan Station junior guard Serena Sandusky, who has already committed to Butler University, scored 21 points in the Lady Defenders' 58-48 victory at Madison Central. Laryn Brooks scored 22 points for the Lady Indians, who fell behind 17-6 in the first quarter.

Lincoln County used an 18-8 edge in the third quarter to pull away for a 61-50 victory against visiting Rockcastle County. Emily Fox led the way with 33 points.

■ Junior guard Hannah Harris had 14 points and six steals in Boyle County's 58-50 victory against visiting Southwestern.

■ Junior guard LeeAnn Grider scored 20 points to go with 10 rebounds and six assists in host Russell County's 60-40 victory against Knox Central.
