High school basketball highlights: Dec. 6

Girls

Scott County took an 11-10 lead early in the second quarter and never trailed the rest of the way in a 51-46 victory at Sayre.

The Cardinals' Tereka Guyn was 10-for-18 from the field and finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds and five steals. Her performance helped offset a triple-double from Sayre's Gabby Bowie, a daughter of former University of Kentucky star Sam Bowie. Gabby had 13 points, 13 blocked shots and 12 rebounds.

Clay County point guard Alisha Mitchell scored 26 points on 9-for-15 shooting in the Lady Tigers' 54-37 victory at Harlan. Senior center Ashley Mullins led the Lady Dragons with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Clay County was ahead by six at halftime and used a 14-0 run to open the second half to put away the game.

■ Junior point guard Laryn Brooks' all-around performance — 20 points, nine assists, seven steals and five rebounds — sent Madison Central past visiting North Laurel 73-43.

■ Kassidy Prater scored 25 points in Pike Central's 66-53 win at home against Jenkins. Eighth-grader Whitney Creech scored 30 points for Jenkins.

Boys

Cordia got a pair of double-doubles from sophomores Khalil Williamson and Chris Hudson in a 97-55 victory against visiting Jackson City. Williams scored 22 points to go with 11 steals, and Hudson had 25 points and 15 rebounds.

Knott County Central freshman Camron Justice scored 19 of his 26 points in the second quarter in an 88-32 rout of visiting Phelps. Justice also had seven rebounds and six assists.

■ Jacob Skinner was 10-for-10 from the field and finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds in Pineville's 68-49 victory at home against Thomas Walker (Va.).

Shelby Valley sophomore Cody Belter scored 16 points, and the Wildcats knocked off host Boyd County 55-52 in overtime. The Lions outscored the Wildcats 11-6 in the fourth quarter to extend the game.
