High school basketball highlights, Jan. 27


Knott County Central, which has not lost to another Kentucky team, became one of only four teams in the state with 20 wins by beating visiting Breathitt County 70-49. Evan Hall led the way with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Zach Davis had 19 points for the winners, who are second in the 14th Region, behind Perry Central, in Dave Cantrall's ratings.

■ Despite a game-high 23 points from Gallatin County's Travis Davis, Scott County, ranked second in the state, won at home 75-59. Sophomore guard Trent Gilbert led the winners with 19 points. Isaiah Ivey had 17 points and Tamron Manning 14 for the Cardinals, who outshot Gallatin 50 percent to 34 percent and won the rebounding battle 45-23.

■ Senior guard John Southall poured in a career-high 35 points to lead host Marion County past Nelson County 82-54.

■ Merle Baldridge scored 29 points to lead Kentucky School for the Deaf past visiting Mississippi School for the Deaf 47-32.


Madison Central, ranked 14th in the state in Dave Cantrall's ratings, ran its record to 16-3 by beating host Woodford County (15-8) 61-49. Central's Larryn Brooks led the way with 20 points.

■ Freshman guard Addison Corder scored her 1,000th point while leading host Southwestern to its 15th win, a 70-42 thrashing of North Laurel. Corder led all scorers with 22 points.

■ Kaitlin Siegmundt scored 27 points as Campbell County cruised past host Bourbon County 89-56.
