High school basketball highlights: Jan. 31


■ Marcellus Washington hit a three-pointer from about 32 feet away with four seconds left that gave Bryan Station a 70-69 victory in overtime against Sayre. Washington's three was his seventh of the game.

"He was the best player on the court for us, offensively," Defenders Coach Mike Allen said. "It was a big, big, big-time shot."

Jaylen Beckham, who was 10-for-11 from the free-throw line, added 16 points and six rebounds for the Defenders.

Ray Brewer was 11-for-18 from the field and 11-for-12 from the line for the Spartans. He had 33 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots.

West Jessamine's Daulton Peters scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a 78-66 victory against visiting Burgin.

The Colts' Chase Fain had 18 points, five assists and four steals.

Travis McEachern led the Bulldogs with 21 points, and Alex Beckerson had 19 points and seven rebounds.

Rowan County, ranked 21st in Dave Cantrall's Rating the State, got 21 points and 17 rebounds from Adam Wing in a 75-64 victory against visiting Fleming County. D.J. Townsend led the Vikings with 27 points.

■ Kyle Young, who was 10-for-14 from the field, had 24 points and seven rebounds in Adair County's 79-67 victory at home against Metcalfe County.

Dylan Harris hit six three-pointers and had 30 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Hornets.

■ Three Red Bird players had double-doubles in an 87-68 victory against visiting Riverside Christian. Erik Young scored 28 points and had 10 rebounds. Jamie Wilder and Dylan Smith both scored 18 points; Wilder had 15 rebounds and Smith had 13.

Pulaski County junior guard Kody Johnson scored 40 points in a 78-73 victory in overtime at Somerset.

Clinton County improved to 18-3 with an 88-57 victory at Monticello. Wayne Stearns led the Bulldogs with 20 points.


■ Ashton Feldhaus scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and No. 19 Madison Central rolled to a win against visiting Rockcastle County 76-49.

Sayre's Maddie Mitchell scored 17 points and had six rebounds and five steals in a 33-30 victory at Henry Clay.

Sydney Dunham led the Lady Devils with 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Woodford County was 13-for-23 from three-point range in an 80-72 victory at home against Highlands. The Lady Yellowjackets' Catie Fletcher had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and teammate Shelby McDonald scored 15 points to go with 10 assists.

■ Jasmine Whitfield scored 33 points, and host Southwestern improved to 16-5 with a 67-45 win against West Jessamine. The senior point guard also had eight rebounds and six steals.

■ Rianna Gayheart scored 31 points and had three assists and three steals to help Owen County squeak past visiting Collins 45-43.

■ Emily Fox, a junior guard, had 25 points and four rebounds, and No. 17 Lincoln County edged visiting Somerset 57-33.

East Ridge sophomore Christian Yates scored 21 points and had 11 rebounds in the Lady Warriors' 56-52 win at home against Jenkins.

Russell County's LeeAnn Grider had 23 points and 10 rebounds in a 57-42 win against visiting Casey County.

Harlan County (16-6) jumped out to a 27-6 lead at halftime and cruised to a 55-32 win at Middlesboro. Miranda Davenport scored 21 points for the Lady Black Bears.
