Scott County opened on a 9-0 run and its defense forced 28 turnovers in a 69-38 victory against Sayre in the 42nd District boys' semifinals at Henry Clay on Tuesday night.
The Cardinals, ranked third in Dave Cantrall's Rating the State, improved to 27-4 and will face the winner of Wednesday night's game between No. 18 Henry Clay and Bryan Station in Friday's title game.
Tamron Manning and Trenton Gilbert both scored 13 points to lead Scott County. Isaiah Ivey added nine points, eight rebounds and three steals.
Reid Freeman hit five three-pointers and had 22 points and five rebounds for the Spartans (8-18). Ray Brewer had nine points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots.
No. 6 Madison Central 79, Berea 30 (44th): Dominique Hawkins scored 16 points and the Indians (29-1) dominated the Pirates in Eastern Kentucky University's McBrayer Arena. Madison Central scored 33 points off 24 Berea turnovers.
Hunter Allen and Quan Taylor added nine points apiece for the Indians. Barry Scudder-Davis led the Pirates with 16 points.
No. 23 Clark Co. 78, Bourbon Co. 42 (40th): Dominic VanCleve scored 16 points and Bopper Stenzel had 13 in the Cardinals' win at Bourbon County.
Franklin Co. 82, Frankfort 52 (41st): Ryan Timmons scored 25 points to go with 10 rebounds and six assists in the Flyers' victory in the Frankfort Convention Center. Garrett Hamilton added 15 points and 12 rebounds.
The Panthers' Jalen Washington had 22 points.
No. 1 Louisville Trinity 84, Atherton 63 (27th): The Shamrocks (27-3) hit 12 three-pointers, including four each by James Quick and Troy Saxton, in a victory against Atherton at Seneca.
Quick finished with a career-high 24 points, five rebounds and six of his team's 17 steals. Devin Mayfield had 21 points and four assists for the Rebels (9-18).
Montgomery Co. 62, Paris 44 (40th): Indians junior Omar Prewitt had 23 points and 10 rebounds for his 16th double-double of the season.
West Jessamine 62, Burgin 46 (46th): Chase Fain had 14 points and Daulton Peters, Robby Irgang and DeShawn Eubanks scored 11 apiece in the Colts' win at Mercer County.
Scott Co. 63, Henry Clay 58 (42nd): The Lady Devils cut a 10-point deficit to two with 36 seconds left, but the visiting Cardinals held on for the victory.
Tereka Guyn had 17 points and 13 rebounds for Scott County (13-18). Ceci Evans had 14 points and Areanna Porter had 14 rebounds for Henry Clay (3-22).
No. 8 Madison Central 81, Berea 38 (44th): The Lady Indians (25-4) jumped out to a 27-6 lead and cruised past the Lady Pirates in Eastern Kentucky University's McBrayer Arena.
Madison Central's Larryn Brooks had 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.
No. 2 Marion Co. 74, Campbellsville 25 (20th): Logan Powell scored 16 points and Makayla Epps had 11 in a win at Taylor County.
No. 3 Perry Central 81, Buckhorn 28 (54th): Lady Commodores senior Kendall Noble had 11 points, 11 assists, 10 steals and six rebounds at Leslie County.
Leslie Co. 48, Hazard 45 (54th): Freshman Katie Moore had 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the Lady Eagles at Hazard.
