Butler, ranked 23rd in Dave Cantrall's Rating the State, outscored No. 4 Mercy by seven in the third quarter and went on to defeat the Jaguars 59-47 in the 6th Region girls' championship game at Bellarmine University.
Alexis Stallard led Butler (23-9) with 16 points and four rebounds, and Cora Moore had 14 points and four assists.
Kayla Richardson had 12 points, six rebounds and three assists for Mercy (27-6).
No. 1 Manual 65, Assumption 43 (7th): Assumption (17-14) jumped out to a 15-13 lead, but Manual (33-2) took control in the second quarter en route to the 7th Region championship at Bellarmine.
Leasia Wright scored a game-high 14 points to go with eight rebounds and a pair of steals. Kayla Styles had 12 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
No. 3 Perry Co. Central 60, Knott Co. Central 35 (14th): Senior guard Kendall Noble had 13 points, 14 rebounds, seven steals and five assists in the Lady Commodores' win in the semifinals at Breathitt County. Sophomore Kayla Rankin added 13 points and 13 rebounds for Perry Central (29-2).
No. 5 Boone Co. 49, St. Henry 43 (9th): Sydney Moss scored 18 points to help the Lady Rebels slip past St. Henry in the semifinals at Northern Kentucky University.
No. 17 Clay Co. 53, Bell Co. 32 (13th): Cheyenne Madden was 11-for-14 from the field and finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds, and the Lady Tigers (30-5) won in the semifinals in Corbin Arena. Maci Morris had 16 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Lady Cats (19-12).
Harlan Co. 50, North Laurel 43 (13th): Brooklyn Massingale scored 20 points, including going 5-for-6 from three-point range, to help the Lady Black Bears (26-6) hold off North Laurel (9-25) in the semifinals in Corbin Arena.
Miranda Davenport added 15 points and eight rebounds for Harlan County.
No. 19 Walton-Verona 55, Owen Co. 47 (8th): Junior forward Courtney Sandlin had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the Bearcats' semifinal win at Anderson County.
No. 23 Clark Co. 75, Augusta 53 (10th): Adam Fatkin and Taylor Hoard scored 19 points apiece in the Cardinals' first-round victory over Augusta at Montgomery County.
Newport Central Catholic 52, Cooper 38 (9th): Senior Brady Hightchew scored 16 points, including the 1,000th of his career, in the Thoroughbreds' semifinals victory at Northern Kentucky University.
Boone Co. 50, Lloyd Memorial 41 (9th): The game was tied 26-26 before the Rebels went on a 12-2 run in the semifinals at Northern Kentucky University. Boone County hit 11 of 14 free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter.
North Laurel 38, Knox Central 30 (13th): The Jaguars (24-8) jumped out to a 12-4 lead and went on to defeat the Panthers (20-14) in the semifinals in Corbin Arena.
Marcus Carson scored a game-high 12 points to go with five rebounds. Jake Allen added six points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
