Jenkins star starts season on a tear: Whitney Creech scored 61 points, including 21 in the fourth quarter, and grabbed 25 rebounds in Jenkins’ 82-55 win over Perry County Central on Monday night.
It was the second game in a row that Creech reached 60 or more points. She scored 60 along with 26 rebounds in the Cavaliers’ 84-59 win over Lee (Va.) on Saturday.
Monday’s barrage boosted her scoring average this season to 50.8 per game through six games. Creech, who has signed with Western Kentucky, averaged a nation-best 42 points as a junior and has led the state in scoring the last three seasons. She eclipsed 4,000 points in her career in a loss to Ridgeview (Va.) on Wednesday.
