Reigning 5A state champ Highlands risks its 16-game winning streak Friday night when it visits Cincinnati Colerain, which has 31 consecutive regular-season victories.
Colerain, which beat nationally ranked Cincy St. Xavier two weeks ago, is No. 1 in Ohio's Division I. Highlands is No. 1 in Kentucky's 5A. The Bluebirds are 1-5 against Ohio competition in recent years, including a 45-14 loss to Colerain in 2005.
Highlands star running back Josh Conner is out for at least a month with a broken leg.
Warren East senior star Shenard Holton had a huge night in the Raiders' 45-27 win over Greenwood. He rushed 12 times for 151 yards and three TDs, caught three passes for 44 yards and a TD, threw a 45-yard TD pass, returned three kicks for 96 yards, and had nine tackles on defense. Holton has committed to Louisville as a defensive back.
