Henry Clay rushes past Clark Co., 34-14

Henry Clay piled up 316 yards and Davion Jackson and Anthony Lindsey both scored twice to send the Blue Devils (1-4) to their first victory of the season, 34-14 at Clark County on Friday night.

Jackson did the bulk of the work, gaining 219 yards on 17 carries. His scoring runs covered 40 and 32 yards.

Clark County (2-2) scored on a 34-yard interception return by Darian Skinner and a Christian Cooke TD pass to Brent Stoneking.

Franklin Co. 54, Scott 14: Ryan Timmons totaled 278 yards of offense and four touchdowns in the Flyers' rout of visiting Scott.

Timmons ran the ball 10 times for 157 yards and two scores. He also had five receptions for 121 yards and two TDs.

Logan Woodside threw for 242 yards and three TDs for the Flyers (5-0).

No. 16 Lexington Catholic 43, Madison Central 18: The visiting Knights got a big game from quarterback Kyle Bolin, who threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns. The junior also ran for 54 yards and another score.

The game was tied at 12-all before Lexington Catholic (4-1) went on a 29-0 run.

Adam Bush led the Knights with eight catches and 147 yards receiving to go with three TDs. David Bouvier had six receptions for 100 yards, including a touchdown.

Dominique Hawkins figured in all three of the Indians' scores. He caught two TD passes from Hunter Stocker and scored on a 1-yard run. Hawkins ran for 128 yards and had two catches for 103.

Hazard 43, Lexington Christian 7: Evan Whitaker ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as the Bulldogs cruised to a home win against the Eagles.

LCA's score came on an 18-yard run by Lincoln Henzman in the fourth quarter.

Nicholas Co. 56, Paris 0: Caleb Pope, a senior running back, ran for 320 yards and five touchdowns in the host Bluejackets' victory.

Pope got the scoring started and finished with a 43-yard run in the first quarter and a 17-yard run in the fourth quarter, respectively. He also scored on runs of 53, 88 and 18 yards.

Breathitt Co. 20, No. 20 Somerset 0: Senior tailback Will Collins ran 127 yards, including an 11-yard score, in the Bobcats' fifth straight victory to start the season.

Breathitt County quarterback Richard Trent scored on a 1-yard run and threw a 49-yard TD pass to Josh Fletcher.

Bourbon Co. 35, Harrison Co. 28: The Colonels' Kentayvous Hopkins scored the game-winning touchdown on a 10-yard run with 3:44 to play. It was Hopkins' fourth TD of the game and he finished with 254 rushing yards on 19 carries.

Trinity 17, Cincinnati St. Xavier 7: Shamrocks quarterback Travis Wright threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns in a win in Cincinnati.

James Quick had seven catches for 107 yards and one of the TDs.

Russell Co. 34, North Laurel 0: Nick Britt scored four touchdowns and gained 202 yards on 19 carries for host Russell County.

Evan Fletcher added a 53-yard touchdown run for the Lakers (5-0).

No. 11 Newport Central Catholic 24, Simon Kenton 13: Nate Powell ran for 171 yards and a touchdown for the visiting Thoroughbreds (4-1).

East Jessamine 15, Bullitt Central 10: Senior Cameron Thomas ran for 209 yards on 23 carries for the visiting Jaguars (3-1).

Anderson Co. 28, Mercer Co. 6: Anderson County got off to a rough start, giving up an 88-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by visiting Mercer County's Travis Hooper.

But the Bearcats responded by scoring a TD in every quarter. Seth Carmichael threw two touchdown passes to Spencer Ruggles and also scored on a 2-yard run.
