City games

No. 23 Henry Clay (3-0) at Boone County (0-4): Blue Devils quarterback Sammy Carter has completed 26 of 39 passes for 368 yards, with four TDs and one interception. Boone County QB Aaron Floyd ran and threw for 289 yards and four TDs in last week's loss to Lafayette.

No. 6 Lexington Catholic (2-2) at Madison Central (1-3): The Knights' Noah Mitchell carried 53 times for 278 yards and two TDs in 13 games last year. He's already carried 52 times for 324 yards and three TDs this season. Madison Central faces its third top-15 team, having already lost to No. 2 Scott County and No. 12 Harlan County.

Nelson County (2-2) at Lexington Christian (1-3): Nelson County's Jonathan Breeding has thrown for 1,231 yards and 14 TDs. LCA's defense has been led by Adam Smith, Colin Duzyk and Nick Whitman who have at least 20 tackles apiece.

Paul Laurence Dunbar (2-3) at Lafayette (1-3): The Generals, led by Kylan Nelson's 254 all-purpose yards and three TDs, beat Dunbar 55-21 last year for their fifth victory in a row in the city rivalry. Dunbar has outgained each of its first four opponents and holds an overall edge of 1,324 yards to 893.

Tates Creek (3-1) at Rowan County (1-3): Tates Creek didn't have a turnover in last week's loss to Henry Clay, the first time the Commodores haven't lost a fumble or had an interception in a game in more than two years. Rowan County's Isaac Lee ran for 240 yards and a TD in last week's win over Fleming County.

Top state games

East Jessamine (1-2) at West Jessamine (2-2): East must slow West's Devin Taylor, who has rushed for 914 yards and 13 TDs in four games.

Hazard (2-1) at Fairview (3-0): Hazard returns to Fairview where it lost to the Eagles 40-6 in last year's Class A semifinals. Fairview has won 33 of its last 34 regular-season games, including 24 in a row.
