Thoroughbred Charities of America has awarded grants totaling $879,547 to 86 non-profit organizations.
The organizations are all tied to the Thoroughbred industry and rescue, retrain and re-home retiring racehorses. The organizations also educate, conduct research, provide services to the backstretch and jockeys and use Thoroughbreds in therapeutic riding programs, according to a TCA news release.
TCA is the charitable arm of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association. TCA is preparing for its 20th annual auction on Dec. 4 to raise funds for charities in the Thoroughbred industry that provide a better life for Thoroughbreds during and after their racing careers.
