WEG endurance, driving tests set for Horse Park

Sixteen teams will compete in the driving test event of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games Oct. 1-4 at the Kentucky Horse Park, organizers announced Thursday.

Later that month, riders from 22 countries will take part in the endurance test event for the Games.

The driving competition will feature teams of four horses in harness driven in three phases of competition, including driven dressage, marathon and obstacle-cones driving.

The endurance ride will take place on Oct. 14, with riders racing the clock and each other over a series of loops at the Horse Park and surrounding countryside. One set of competitors will ride 75 miles, and the other will ride 100 miles.

The World Equestrian Games will take place Sept. 25 to Oct. 10, 2010.Ticket sales for the competitions begin Friday, Sept. 25, exactly one year from the start of the Games. For more information go to
