In day three of the reining competition, Great Britain placed two riders in the top five of the consolation round. They will advance to the individual competition Thursday at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.
The consolation round was a second chance for reining riders to qualify to compete in the individual competition for medals with 20 others who already had qualified.
Lee Rutter of Great Britain was in first place with 217.5 points Tuesday, with teammate Doug Allen one point behind in second place.
Finishing third was Sweden's Fredrik Thomsson, who is riding Gallos Stylish Star for the first time in competition. Thomsson said maybe that was why he finished about halfway down in the pack of riders in the team competition last weekend.

"We didn't know each other," said Thomsson, who said he studied the video of his ride on Sunday, looking for weak spots in his performance.
Filling out the last two places in the consolation round were Warren Backhouse of Australia and Hubertus Heule of the Netherlands, who were tied with 215.5 points.
