Three horses injured in Saturday's cross-country phase of eventing competition are doing well, according to officials from the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

Italian rider Juan Carlos Garcia's horse, Iman du Golfe, was treated at Rood & Riddle for a deep laceration and a bone chip near his left elbow. The horse is resting comfortably, and veterinarians are optimistic that he will make about a full recovery.

Australian rider Paul Tapner's horse, Inonothing, suffered a fractured left hind patella (knee cap), according to Games officials. Inonothing pulled up lame at fence 13. According to a statement, the horse is resting in his own stall and the prognosis is favorable.

Irish horse Fernhill Clover Mist, ridden by Patricia Ryan, injured his left hock while galloping between fences on the course. He was taken to the on-site Games veterinary clinic, where he was examined and medicated before returning to his own stall. Vets expect the horse to continue to improve, officials said.

Performances rescheduled

Spotlight Lexington performances by the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra and Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras were canceled Sunday because of the weather.

The Lexington Philharmonic was rescheduled for 6 p.m., Tuesday at Courthouse Plaza. CKYO has not been rescheduled. The Jimmy Church Band, which was scheduled to play Tuesday, will now play at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, followed at 8 p.m. by the Spazmatics. Both will appear in Courthouse Plaza.

The youth orchestra had been practicing for weeks for the performance, said Kayoko Dan, music director and conductor. But, she said, the cool weather and rain could harm the students' instruments.

"We can't fight Mother Nature," she said in a news release.
